For starters

I have been contemplating about creating a book blog for some time now, but I would always veto the idea myself because I wasn't sure how I could cope maintaining two blogs, as I already have a general life blog set up. That one has been in existence for more than 7 years now, and it contains a hodgepodge of posts; I would write about practically anything that would be going on in my life at any particular time. Although it was only recently that I acquired my own domain name, I am proud of that blog and everything that it contains.

So why the change of heart where a book blog is concerned?

No, it is not to join the bandwagon of book bloggers out there.

The reason for this blog being set up was an email I received just this morning, from a publisher connected with Netgalley, informing me that one of my requests to view a galley had been rejected. The email didn't specify why the request was denied, although it did contain suggestions as to how I can make sure that future requests will be granted, and tips on what certain publishers require prior to approving requests to view galleys. One such tip is for a blog to be specifically devoted to books, and not a "general life" one, just like the one I already have. (I am still at a loss, however, as to why two requests were previously granted notwithstanding the absence of a book blog.)

Anyway, I wouldn't have minded the denial of my request for the galley that I wanted, but it got me thinking nonetheless. I also realized that I don't want to inundate my readers with reviews of books on my personal blog, which I think has already happened for the last 2 months or so. So, as in the case of some book bloggers I know who have, aside from their respective personal blogs, likewise set up a separate book blog, I've decided to keep my personal blog personal, and create a book blog in order to delineate their contents.

Hence, this book blog.

Let me warn you, however, that I am by no means a professional reviewer. I read purely for the sake of pleasure and enjoyment, and any other benefit that may be derived therefrom is purely incidental. My reviews are simply my opinions on why I liked or didn't like a book, and on this note, please remember that reviews are highly subjective. If you concur or disagree with any of the things I've said, I hope that we can discuss our points with the respect that we both deserve, as writer and reader.

That being said, enjoy this brand-spankin'-new book blog of mine. Thank you, Lynai of It's A Wonderful Book World and My Own Little Corner, Angus of Book Rhapsody and Waned World 3, and Tina of One More Page and tinamats.com, for the inspiration. :)

And don't forget to leave me a message! :)
