Books are adding up!

Over the weekend, I got me some new titles to read. Yes, I still have a good 100+ books in my TBR shelf, but I'm sure I can find time (from where, I have no idea, haha) to read all of them and these, too:

  • 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff ~ During our book club's Jane Eyre discussion last Saturday, one of my bookish friends, Aldrin, dumped a bunch of books requested our other friend and my Buddy, Angus, to take "custody" of a bunch of his books for him, as he is Baguio-bound (for good) in a few days.  I dug through the pile and found Aldrin's copy of this book, and so I asked Buddy if I could take "custody" of it for him. :D
  • Ghostwritten by David Mitchell ~ Oh I am so excited to read this! I loved Mitchell's Cloud Atlas, and I am now his fan and, together with Buddy, intend to read all his books within the year. Excited!
  • In The Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1) by Tana French ~ I've been hearing a lot about this book, so when I chanced upon a copy at Book Sale - Robinsons Ermita, I grabbed it right away. :)

I'm expecting some new titles from Book Depository, too, since I availed of their 10% on everything promo last week. Both books are by David Mitchell: The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet and number9dream. (So, the only Mitchell book I don't have yet is Black Swan Green. I'll get that soon.)

I'd love to splurge on more but I'm thisclose to going broke. Buuuuut! I'm happily broke! :D

Jzhun went ballistic when he found out that you went home with 84, Charing Cross Road. And Aldrin said it made him cry. I can almost imagine him!

And yes, please let me know when your David Mitchell Month will be. I hope not on July?

BUDDY: Aldrin cried because I took home his book? Or because Jzhun went ballistic? Haha! :P

I don't think I can do a David Mitchell Month. I have a tendency to get saturated, no matter how much I love the author or a series. The most I can do is read 2 books in a series, successively (like A Song of Ice and Fire) or by an author. I don't know if you've noticed it. I'm currently into the 3rd book in the ASOIF series, but I don't think I can go on to the 4th book straightaway. :)

So there won't be a David Mitchell Month, unfortunately. What I can do is read one Mitchell book every month. Good enough? :) We can do Ghostwritten soon, or after Muller's Plums. KD and I will be reading Norman Mailer in June, but I can read Ghostwritten simultaneously. Let me know. :)

OMG! Tana French! She is one of my favorite mystery/crime/thriller novelists. I've read all her published works -- In the Woods, The Likeness, and Faithful Place. My favorite is The Likeness, but In the Woods is a close second! I hope you enjoy In the Woods as much as I did!

PETER: Thanks! I look forward to reading her work as well, and hoping I'll enjoy it as much as you did. :)
