Required Reading: SEPTEMBER

It was a very poor reading month for me, August. And I had such awesome authors lined up! I blame it all on the reading slump that I suffered through the last weeks of the month - and from which I've hopefully recovered. (I'm finally done with number9dream, yay! Five stars, yay!) 

So what have I managed to read in the very unproductive month that was August? 

• The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides - Eternal flame. 5/5
• Black Swan Green by David Mitchell - This was ace! 5/5
• number9dream by David Mitchell - The meaning of life. 5/5

  

I actually just finished reading the last book so it should technically be shelved under the September reads, but give this girl a break, won't you? And just look at that list. All three books each with a perfect rating of 5 stars. It more than makes up for the fact that I was such a tamad reader last month, yes? :)

Shall we now proceed to my September reading list?

• In Cold Blood by Truman Capote - This is the book club's designated book for the month, which will be discussed on the last Sunday of September and will be moderated by Ella. The operative word being Sunday, I am 99.9% sure that I won't be able to make it, but I am nonetheless reading the book along with everyone so I can participate in the online discussion. Plus, this is my first Capote! I'm looking forward to it. 
• The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - My own F2F book for November! I think I need to re-read this way ahead of everyone so I can ponder over the discussion carefully, and create a good reading plan. For readers who are not used to thick books, this ought to be a challenge. :) [Which reminds me: giveaway soon!]
• The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell - My last Mitchell, which I will buddy-read along with my Buddy Angus, Mae and Bennard, fellow book club members, on the last week of the month. Also, this is carried over from last month's list.
• An Artist of the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro - From the August list.

Looks like it's not time for me to read Alan Hollinghurst yet, but I'll try again in October. We will see. :)
