Filipino Fridays (1): Hello, reader!

In the weeks leading up to the Filipino Reader Conference, bloggers and readers are encouraged to participate in the Filipino Fridays, a series of memes that explore anything book- or reader-related. This year's Filipino Fridays posts start today, and here's the first salvo: time for introductions! :)

Hello, Reader! Let’s get to know you, and more importantly, what kind of reader are you? Laura E. Kelly released an infographic about Reader species — under what Domain/Class/Family/Genus/Species do you fall under? Give examples, and feel free to talk about why you belong to that species. Who knows, you may find readers in your own genus. ;)

I have come across this infographic before and based on the chart, I have concluded that I am under the Free Range classification, and I fall under all four categories under it.

  • The All-The-Timer - Printed or digital, I'm game.
  • The Eclectic - I've read Anais Nin and Neil Gaiman. I've read Anne Rice and Roald Dahl. I've read graphic novels and non-fiction.
  • The Cross-Under - I'm an adult and I read kids' books. My current favorite: Robert Magnuson's The Great Duck and Crocodile Race. (Happens to be my daughter's favorite at the moment, too.)
  • The "It's Complicated" Reader - Given that I am all those I mentioned above, how can I fall under specific category of reader, then?

Hop on over to the Filipino ReaderCon site for more kinds of readers! ;)
