Required Reading: MARCH

March! After going for "love" as theme for February, I'm going back to what a good friend aptly called themelessness this time around. It is, after all, my favorite theme! :D

But first, a recap of my romance-filled February picks:

  • Dead Stars by Paz Marquez Benitez - The book club's F2F read for the month. 3/5.
  • A Lover's Discourse: Fragments by Roland Barthes - Brain hemorrhage, heart overflowing. 5/5
  • This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen - Buddy read with my book clubs friends! Hate Spinnerbait! Hopeful ending. 4/5
  • Every Day by David Levithan - Currently on page 198.

I will try my best to finish Every Day until tomorrow - I only have around a hundred pages to go, and it's easy-peasy reading - so I could start on my March books! ;)



Themelessness, yes? Here you go:





One thing these books have in common, however, is that they're all slim volumes. I purposely picked them so I could have enough time left to finish reading Wolf Hall within the month.

  • Hunger by Knut Hamsun - My friend Angus' favorite book. From this pile, this is the one I will crack open first.
  • The Passport by Herta Muller - After reading The Land of Green Plums with my friend last year, which I rated 4 out of 5 stars, I've been looking forward to reading another Muller. This copy was a Christmas gift from another bookish friend. Thank you so much!
  • Astigirl by Tweet Sering - I loved Tweet Sering's Wander Girl for its wit, hilarity and relevance, so I'm looking forward to this one. It's supposedly autobiographical, so it should be doubly interesting. Another Christmas gift, yay!
  • An Artist of the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro - I will complete Ishi's works this year, and I'm starting with this one. ;)

Gasp! I don't have a copy of that Ishi book yet. I must buy the same stripey edition.

And oh, please don't judge me when you finally read Hunger, hehe. :D

BUDDY: But of course! Haha. Although, I trust your taste when it comes to books, so I don't think we'll have a problem with Hunger. HAhahaha.

Hm, the only theme I have is for Iscariot, which is for Holy Week. Technically, I am also themeless. Hee.

SIS: Hamsun does have "Angus" written all over it, but I have my separate claim to Muller and Ishiguro. Hehehe. ;)

LYNAI: Hahaha, it is that boring over at Twitter now that I'm "absent" for a bit? Just a little bit more - Easter is just around the corner! Yay!
